Aspen Kyiv Challenge: Aspen Institute Kyiv Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Bucha City Council

Aspen Institute Kyiv continues to implement the Aspen Kyiv Challenge – an educational leadership programme that engages teenagers to become agents of change and develop their own social startups.
As part of the programme, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between Aspen Institute Kyiv and Bucha City Council. The document formalises a shared goal – to support young people in Bucha in developing leadership and responsibility through practical tools of social innovation.
“Aspen Kyiv Challenge is a space where young people develop leadership skills, learn to act together and take responsibility for their communities. We believe that the country’s recovery begins with young people who understand that their city is their responsibility, their commitment and their future. We value the openness of Bucha City Council and its willingness to support local initiatives that empower young people to create change today. It is through partnerships like this that trust is built – between generations, institutions and people,” said Yuliya Tychkivska, Executive Director of Aspen Institute Kyiv.
📍In 2025, the programme is being launched for the first time in Bucha and Borodianka – cities that have faced some of the most severe challenges of the war. As part of the programme, teenagers aged 14–17 will:
- explore the needs of their communities,
- develop innovative solutions,
- launch their own social startups.
Together, we are creating opportunities for young people to shape the future of their communities today.
The Aspen Kyiv Challenge project is implemented by the Aspen Institute Kyiv in partnership with the Aspen Institute Center for Rising Generations, with support of the Global Fund Aspen Institute International Partners, and in cooperation with the Klitschko Foundation.
