Policy Program Director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv, Olena Fomina, Participated in the Transatlantic Socrates Seminar

From June 10 to 12, 2025, Olena Fomina, Policy Program Director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv, participated in the 7th Transatlantic Socrates Seminar. The Aspen Institute Romania organized the event in partnership with the Socrates Program (Aspen Institute USA) and in collaborationwith NATO. It brought together thought leaders from various sectors and countries.
This year’s theme was “Building Resilience and Innovation in an Age of Global Fragmentation.” For three days, participants from different countries engaged in dialogues about new security realities, the transformation of the European Union’s political development vectors, and its role in responding to threats, particularly from Russia.
The seminar included a visit to NATO Headquarters, where participants met with Alliance representatives to discuss the current agenda, innovation, and strategic cooperation.
As part of the program, participants also attended the official launch of the European Office of the Aspen Institute Romania in Brussels. The Aspen Romania team envisions this office as a hub for collaboration among partners of the Aspen Institute network across Europe. During the visit, participants joined sessions focused on the Black Sea region, global shifts, and their impact on the security landscape.
The international presence of the Aspen Institute Kyiv in such formats is a key element in fostering trust, mutual understanding, and cooperation among leaders shaping today’s most critical decisions. Olena Fomina returned to Kyiv with fresh ideas, valuable insights, and inspiration to continue the dialogue, now within the Ukrainian context.
We sincerely thank the organizers and partners for the opportunity to participate in this strategic conversation!
