Alumni of the Iron Squad project’s participation in a seminar as part of the Aspen Teens program

Working with young leaders who want to change the future is inspiring for the Aspen Institute Kyiv team.

On December 20-21, the Institute, in partnership with the Iron Squad project of Ukrainian Railways, held the first seminar, “Leadership in the Modern World,” as part of the Aspen Teens program. The participants were graduates of the unique project for developing talented youth, “Iron Change.” Among them are winners and participants of national competitions, the Junior Academy of Sciences, and school government leaders who are actively involved in the life of their educational institutions and communities.

This seminar is designed to help teenagers better understand the world, themselves, and the path they choose as future leaders. Creative minds, critical thinking, modern leadership, a person’s place in society, and current times — the texts of leading thinkers encouraged young leaders to comprehend the eternal themes. During group work, participants also analyzed the benefits and challenges of artificial intelligence’s impact on the modern world and the role of education. The participants identified the strengths of modern education as a humanistic approach, accessibility of education for all, and the role of the teacher as a mentor.

Tymur Demchuk, Head of Corporate Learning at KMBS and lecturer at “Maibutni” and KMBS, and Halyna Tytysh, Head of Smart Osvita, moderated the event.

Anastasiia Kravets, Project coordinator at the Aspen Institute Kyiv, coordinated the event.

The team of the Institute hopes that the experience of discussions during the seminar will help participants better understand themselves and their calling.
