The Aspen Institute Kyiv nominated two Ukrainian participants for the Aspen Institute Italia seminar “Values and Society.” According to their reflections, they were particularly impressed by the program’s quality, the depth of the texts, and the high level of moderation by the American team. From our side, we would add that such seminars offer a broader perspective thanks to international colleagues’ diverse experiences.
For the past 18 years, Aspen Institute Italia has traditionally hosted the “Values and Society” seminar. This year, the event brought together international leaders from public service, politics, business, culture, media, and civil society in the Italian city of Ciocco.
For three days, leaders stepped away from their daily routines to reflect on the fundamental values that underpin their everyday decisions. The discussions focused on themes such as spiritual leadership, social tension, and the role of leadership in civil society. These conversations allowed participants to learn from one another and explore new dimensions of understanding.
The Aspen Institute Kyiv is committed to ensuring that active members of its Community have access to international platforms. It is equally important to absorb global perspectives and share the Ukrainian experience. Each engagement is a step toward fostering a deeper understanding of Ukraine, its values, and its needs.
Todd Breyfogle, Executive Director of Leadership Seminars at the Aspen Institute, and Kathleen Godfrey, Director of the Aspen Institute’s Initiative on Justice, Society, and Democratic Institutions, moderated the seminar.
We are grateful to our participants for representing Ukraine on the international stage. We especially value our collaboration with colleagues at Aspen Institute Italia for enabling this exchange and their continued partnership.
