Artificial intelligence and post-truth: the Aspen Institute Kyiv held an online dialog for members of the Community

Can we trust the information we consume every day? How does technology transform our perception of truth? Do they contribute to the substitution of concepts?

On October 22, the Aspen Institute Kyiv held an online dialogue (short online seminar) “Information VS Truth: infrastructure of meanings and power” for members of the Aspen-community. The dialogue was based on Yuval Harari’s new book “Nexus. A brief history of information networks from the Stone Age to AI”.

The participants concentrated on the following areas:

  • How information and its transmission constitute power relations;
  • The power and danger of information technology;
  • Whether artificial intelligence (AI) can replace the human body;
  • How AI can change politics, economics, and social life;
  • How populist discourse is developing in the world and what are its risks.

Andriy Kulakov, program coordinator for the Aspen Institute’s Kyiv Community, moderated the dialogue.

The Institute’s team is grateful to the members of the Community for their active involvement, thoughtful comments, and valuable insights, which were evident even online.

The Aspen-сommunity is an association of active graduates who have the opportunity to attend private events and relive the Aspen experience, establish and strengthen ties between themselves and other graduates, and become stronger through different experiences and opinions.
