The results of the “Disinformation and the Role of Social Media Influencers in Times of Crises, Conflicts, and Wars” Program by the Aspen Institute Germany

Do you know how to spot and resist disinformation? 

In 2023, the Aspen Institute Germany held meetings as part of the Program: “Disinformation and the Role of Social Media Influencers in Times of Crises, Conflicts, and Wars”. The Aspen Institute Kyiv nominated 7 participants who joined experts from different countries.

Today, we need to pay special attention to the information we disseminate and consume. The Program focused on raising awareness of disinformation, regulating the activities of media platforms and journalists, and cooperation between influencers and the state. 

In addition, the project participants developed recommendations aimed at: 

• Increasing media literacy in structures and organizations of various levels; 
• support and increase the conscious responsibility of digital content authors. 

Disinformation is one of the main challenges to democracy and freedom, and vulnerability to information manipulation is an obstacle to solving the greatest challenges of our time. One of the answers is to create alliances of experts to find best practices and build a professional network.
