Stakeholder Dialogue on the Development of Strategic Solutions for the Cybersecurity Market

On 30 July 2024, the Aspen Institute Kyiv and the IT Ukraine Association held the Dialogue “Ukrainian Cybersecurity Market: Strategic Growth and Opportunities.”

The goal of the Dialogue is to consolidate the efforts of representatives of the cybersecurity market, the public sector, and specialized associations to identify market challenges. Experts brainstormed together on strategies to overcome these challenges for the industry’s sustainable development.

The participants agreed that the cybersecurity sector in Ukraine needs to consolidate the efforts of all stakeholders and jointly work out the next steps in its development. The key to this should be a platform for interaction between the state, business, and specialized associations. The industry also needs leaders who will communicate to society the importance of protection in cyberspace, as it concerns protecting each citizen’s data and the country as a whole. This is especially true in the context of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

During the event, moderated by strategist Andriy Myroniuk, founder of Myroniuk Consulting, the participants:

  • Discussed barriers and challenges that hinder the development of the cybersecurity sector in Ukraine.
  • Analyzed the current obstacles to the development and preservation of human capital in times of war;
  • Identified barriers to the export of cybersecurity services and solutions;
  • Discussed the necessary legislative and regulatory initiatives to stimulate the development of the sector;
  • Identified steps to create Ukraine’s image as a critical leader in cybersecurity in the international arena.

The Dialogue participants’ developments will be transferred to the CyberTech IT Ukraine Association Committee for work and implementation. The idea of creating the CyberTech IT Ukraine Association Committee arose, in particular, during the Cybersecurity Dialogue Programme at the Aspen Institute Kyiv as a platform for interaction between representatives of the IT sector, members of the IT Ukraine Association, and the cybersecurity market.

The event was held within the framework of the Cybersecurity Dialogue Programme, implemented by The Aspen Institute Kyiv with the support of the USAID Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Project in cooperation with the IT Ukraine Association.

The IT Ukraine Association has established a CyberTech Committee with the participation of the general partner UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group.
