Meeting of Moderators and the Community Council: Discussion of Half-Yearly Activity Results and Future Plans

Forty-two events, over 1,500 engaged participants, and nearly 100 alumni are just some of the results of the Aspen Institute Kyiv team’s activities in the first half of 2024.

It was precious for us to bring together the moderators and the Community Council for the first time. All of them are important to the Institute because their views and contributions help strengthen our activities.

Executive Director Yuliya Tychkivska presented the results of the Institute’s activities for the first half of 2024 during a meeting with the moderators and the Community Council.

The meeting participants also discussed the action plan for the second half of 2024. The priorities include:

  • Leadership seminars.
  • Events within the program areas.
  • Development for the Community program.

During the meeting, the moderators discussed the peculiarities of moderating events during wartime, including challenges that may arise and the peculiarities of working in groups with participants who took part in hostilities. As a reminder, moderators guide participants’ dialogue during seminars and events in a productive direction. They do not express their vision of the issues but monitor compliance with the rules of discussion.

The members of the Community Council, an advisory body of the Institute, expressed their ideas on developing the program for the Aspen community, particularly through the implementation of its members’ initiatives.

In addition, Iryna Palko, a graduate of the Values and Society seminar, and Vitaliy Kuzmin, a graduate of the Business and Society seminar, joined the Community Council.

The Aspen Institute Kyiv continues to develop its activities based on dialogue, mutual respect, and diversity of opinions. We are very grateful to the moderators for their work and believe we can implement all the proposed ideas with the Community Council.
