Aspen-meeting “International Policy of Ukraine: Current Condition and Possible Scenarios”

On July 9, the first post-quarantine meeting of the members of the Aspen community took place. At the meeting, participants discussed the issues of Ukraine’s foreign policy and possible scenarios of the international situation in the nearest future. The panel discussion was attended by:

Serhiy Korsunsky – Director of the Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan, participant of the 14th seminar “Responsible Leadership” and the Socratic seminar.

Oleksiy Makeyev – Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In 2014-2020 – Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participant of the Normandy Format talks. Participant of the 20th seminar “Responsible Leadership”.

The meeting was moderated by Yulia Tychkivska, Executive Director of The Aspen Institute Kyiv.

Topics discussed at the meeting:

– Strengthening China and the growing importance of Asia in international politics.

– Ukraine’s relations with key geopolitical players – the United States and China.

– Prospects for the development of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

– The influence of Ukraine’s domestic policy on its international position.

– The role of trust in diplomacy and relations between heads of state.
