A common cause and a victory over oneself: the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community members took part in the Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon

The Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon was held on October 23 and 24. Members of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community also took part in it.

The idea of a running initiative came to Iryna Lishchynska, Vitaliy Bulda, Serhiy Zhyla, and Bohdan Aganin. For two months, the members of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community trained every Saturday, overcame new distances and went through new challenges. All that for running the dreamed 4.2, 10, 21, and 42 km at the end of October. Iryna Lishchynska, a silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, coached the participants of the running initiative.

The members of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community are leaders from various areas. The updated concept provides for greater involvement of the Community members in the activities of the Institute and, in particular, encourages them to initiate their own events. Joint participation in the Marathon was one such initiative.

— Today, the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community has about 300 members, and their number is growing systematically. Interaction between the members of the Community and the implementation of joint initiatives are very important to us. For that reason, we not only organize events for the Community but also support projects initiated by its members. Preparing for the Wizz Air City Marathon and participating in it became a common cause that united the Community members, says Larysa Latypova, Director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community.
