Philosophical seminar for teenagers “Realms of the Future 6.0”
From October 30 to November 1, a philosophical seminar for teenagers “Realms of the Future 6.0” took place. It was organized by The Aspen Institute Kyiv and Klitschko Foundation.
During the seminar, boys and girls discussed the works of modern and classical thinkers to form their opinion on fundamental philosophical issues:
– What is a state and how is it connected with the ideal of the common good?
– To what extent do we depend on society and does individual freedom really exist?
– What is happiness and is it possible to achieve it?
– What is justice? Is a just social order possible?
– What role does trust play in our lives and where do its boundaries lie?
– What personal traits make a person a leader?
The dialogue was inspired by the ideas of Rene Descartes, Thomas Hobbes, Immanuel Kant, Francis Fukuyama and other thinkers.
In addition, the participants met with writer, translator and journalist Nadiyka Gerbish, who shared her experience, talked about creative challenges and the events of her life that inspired and guided her to success.
Very soon, participants will start implementing online projects for peers in their communities to share their knowledge and skills.
The dialogue sessions were moderated by Anastasia Donska, PhD in Political Science, Lecturer at the Department of Sociology at Kyiv Politechnic Institute, Founder of Big Brother School, and PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies and Philosophical Anthropology at Mykhailo Drahomanov National Pedagogic University, Chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Anton Drobovych.
We thank to our inspired participants, moderators, guests, and our partners Klitschko Foundation!
