Aspen Institute Kyiv’s Launch of “Relief for Ukraine: Support Ecosystem for Ukrainians” Program through the initiative of CORE Response in Ukraine and with the support of the American Red Cross

The Aspen Institute Kyiv has launched the “Relief for Ukraine: Support Ecosystem for Ukrainians” Program through the initiative of CORE Response in Ukraine and with the support of the American Red Cross. The Program aims to improve coordination among stakeholders in providing essential assistance to the war-affected Ukrainian population. On December 12, the Aspen Institute Kyiv held a Dialogue on “Coordination: A Path to Systemic Support for the War-Affected Ukrainian Population.”

The Dialogue brought together representatives of government agencies, local authorities, civil society, charitable organizations, international organizations, and experts.

Yulia Tychkivska, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv, emphasized the importance of dialogue among stakeholders to identify critical issues in livelihood support and work towards their resolution.

Liana Khorovytska, Ukraine Country Director CORE, highlighted that the Program aims to engage various stakeholders in dialogue, including governments, charitable foundations, international organizations, etc., to ensure comprehensive and effective coordination for livelihood support for the war-affected Ukrainian population.

Among the critical perspectives on coordination in humanitarian assistance identified by the speakers were:

  1. Strengthening collaboration among organizations researching livelihood support.
  2. Increasing public awareness of opportunities to receive livelihood support.
  3. Enhancing a culture of interaction.
  4. Reducing bureaucratic barriers in the field of livelihood support.
  5. Improving legislative framework to address urgent issues in livelihood support.

The speakers stressed the importance of open discussions on problems, their clustering for further resolution, and the need for continuous dialogue.

Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine; Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Nadiia Savynska, CEO SpivDiia Charity Foundation; Oleksandr Shcherbatiuk, Head of “SocialIndicators Center, project coordinator at the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology; Daryna Tolkach, Senior Government Liaison Officer at United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Ukraine took part in sessions.
