Aspen Young European Leaders 2023 seminar occurred in the United Kingdom for Aspen Institutes’ representatives

The Aspen Young European Leaders 2023 seminar occurred in the United Kingdom. The Aspen Institute UK and the Aspen Institute Kyiv organized the event jointly.

Initially, the seminar was planned to be held in Ukraine. However, due to the security situation, the seminar was relocated to the British Isles and organized with the support of the Aspen Institute UK.

The seminar brought together young leaders nominated by Aspen Institutes from various countries worldwide, with two participants representing the quota of the Aspen Institute Kyiv.

One of the seminar moderators was Andriy Kulakov, the Coordinator of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Community Program, and co-moderated by Ruth Girardet,  the Aspen Institute UK team representative.

The central theme of the seminar was the preservation of solidarity and, at the same time, diversity and multiplicity in modern Europe — “State of the Union: Collaboration and strife in Europe.”

Participants discussed contemporary global challenges, including climate change, energy resource security, inclusivity, migration policies, etc. Organizers placed a particular emphasis on the topic of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, the reading materials included works by global thinkers and intellectuals and Ukrainian poets, including Ivan Franko.

Participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Wales’s unique culture, nature, and identity while enriching themselves with ideas for personal development and community growth.

We sincerely thank the participants for their active participation and contributions to the discussions during the seminar.
