Chairperson of the Aspen Institute Kyiv Supervisory Board, Natalie Jaresko, participated in the conference “The Future of the West in a fragmented world.” The event was organized by Aspen Institute Italia in cooperation with The Aspen Institute and the US Chamber of Commerce in Italy.
On the eve of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the conference participants explored the strategic elements necessary to strengthen transatlantic relations, starting from security and defense issues.
Ambassador Mariangela Zappia and Giulio Tremonti, president of Aspen Institute Italia and president of the Foreign Affairs Commission in the Chamber of Deputies, delivered welcoming remarks.
Ms. Natalie participated in the panel discussion titled “Dealing with war in Europe: Ukraine, Russia and the future of security.” Other participants in the discussion included Claudio Graziano, Chairman, Fincantieri; Stefano Pontecorvo, Chairman, Leonardo; Kurt Volker, Executive Director, The McCain Institute for International Leadership, Arizona State University.
The participants analyzed the current situation in Russia, the economic consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine for Europe, particularly the impact on the energy sector and energy supply, and the approaches of the United States and the European Union to the transition to a green economy.
