The second seminar of the Moderated Dialogue Series “Aspen Teens: Fight for UA Dream”
Aspen Institute Kyiv is implementing the project “Aspen Teens: Fight for UA Dream” in collaboration with the Klitschko Foundation. The project aimed at discussing the present and future of Ukraine. The second seminar in the series of moderated dialogues occurred on March 17-18, with participants aged 14-17 from different parts of Ukraine and the world.
During the event, participants engaged in dialogue based on pre-read texts by leading Ukrainian and foreign thinkers and intellectuals. The teenagers shared their reflections on the readings, pondering the future of Ukraine, its place on the world’s geopolitical map, and ways in which they can contribute to Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
At the end of the seminar, participants were given a practical task. The organizers proposed to work in groups to address media literacy issues and their importance in modern realities.
Olha Maslova, Ph.D. in biological sciences, science popularizer, author of the books “Adventures of Cells” and “When Will I Finally Sleep?” and the podcast “Science Like Oil” on Hromadske Radio, co-founder of the initiative Nobilitet, a member of the expert council in STEM is FEM, and Olexandr Dobroyer, an expert in communication strategies and public speaking skills development, program director of the Prague Public Center, moderator of leadership seminars at Aspen Institute Kyiv, program consultant and co-coordinator of Ideas Festival, and co-founder of the Board business community moderated the seminar.
This project is an excellent opportunity for young Ukrainians aged 14-17 to participate in discussions about the future of their country. Registration for the project will continue until June 2023.
The mission of “Aspen Teens: Fight for UA Dream” project is to create a community of teenagers where they can express their opinions, discuss, find like-minded people, and form their vision of the future of Ukraine. During the dialogues, young people analyze texts by famous thinkers and give their assessment of the relevance of specific ideas.
